The day-use area for Forgan Cove is open to visitors from 5:30 am – 6:30 pm in those warmer months from September to April. For the shorter daylight hours from May to August, it is open to the public from 6:00 am to 5:30 pm.

However, a fishing permit is required in order to fish along this recreational area of Lake Samsonvale. Don’t be discouraged though as you can obtain a permit from the Samsonvale Water Sports Association or the Pine Rivers Fish Management Association.

There is a popular trail path that starts at the Bullocky Rest Day Use Area that finishes at Forgan Cove. The intermediate walking path has a 4.2-kilometre walking distance and takes about an hour and a half to complete.
