On the western shores of Bribie Island, Lime Pocket Bush Camping Area is a secluded retreat for nature lovers looking to cast a line and enjoy a weekend of fishing and serenity.
The numbered sites are level and suitable for tent or swag camping. Fire are allowed in the designated fire rings (except during fire bans), however, you will need to bring your own firewood. Other essential items include water, portable toilet system, rubbish bags and insect repellent.
Wake to the views of the Glasshouse Mountains before hooking a flathead, whiting, tailor of mangrove jack, fresh and ready for a lunch or dinner. Watch for dugongs feeding in the seagrass offshore and spot shorebirds feasting along the tide line. Look for birds of prey including sea eagles and whistling kites along the coastline.
The closest boat ramps on the mainland include Donnybrook, Toorbul, Coochin Creek, Golden Bach, Bells Creek and Sandstone Point. From the island, you can launch your boat from Bellara and Bongaree boat ramps. The camping area itself provides relatively sheltered anchorage.
Essentials to bring: water for drinking and cooking; gas stoves (preferable) or firewood (such as untreated mill off-cuts not bush wood); rubbish bags; insect repellent. Visitors are encouraged to bring portable toilets to help reduce bush toileting.
