A mixture of preserved bushland environment and modern architecture, North Lakes is a great place to visit with the family. The Bruce Highway runs along the edge of North Lakes making it easy to reach from anywhere in Brisbane.

While North Lakes is a relatively new area, the suburbs surrounding it have existed for a long time. The creation of the suburb of North Lakes brought along new businesses and parks, many of which were aimed at young families. This makes the North Lakes region the perfect place to bring your family for a day out.

The North Lakes Region includes North Lakes, as well as Mango Hill, Murrumba Downs and Griffin.

North Lakes has lots of things families can enjoy doing together. Some are completely free of charge while others do require an entry fee.

North Lakes Town Park

North Lakes Town Park can be found near Lake Eden and behind Lochside Drive. This park has a playground and plenty of grass space to run around on. Picnic tables and barbeques are scattered around it, making it a great place for a family picnic. Bring the family here for a relaxing day out.

North Lakes Library

North Lakes Library can be found at The Corso in North Lakes. Like other libraries in the Moreton Region, North Lakes Library hosts daily activities for kids, such as story time and sing-alongs. They also hold special holiday events and workshops for kids.

Osprey House Environment Centre

Osprey House Environment Centre can be found on Dohles Rocks Road in Griffin. Free of charge, this environmental centre features plenty of things for families to see and do. Inside the centre, there are theatre shows and displays to peruse. This includes live camera footage from the residing Osprey nest. There is also a children’s corner featuring a touch and feel table with animal skulls and seeds. For older children, there are quizzes and interactive surveys to participate in. Outside the centre, there are trails to walk down and areas to go bird watching.

Lake Eden

Lake Eden located close to North Lakes Westfield shopping precinctLakes is a wonderful spot to go for a stroll or enjoy a picnic with the family. The lake attracts native wildlife, including birds and you might even spot a kangaroo!

Places to eat in North Lakes

When dining around the North Lakes area, there are plenty of places to choose from. With a diversity of taverns, cafes, restaurant and Lakes food retailers, serving everything Asian, Mexican, French, Japanese and classic Australian cuisine. North Lakes is a diversity of food cultures.

Places to shop in North Lakes

When it comes to shopping in North Lakes, there is only one place to go: Westfield North Lakes and IKEA North Lakes. This shopping complex features a huge variety of stores to browse in, including clothing stores, bookstores and home goods stores. When you get hungry, the food court is there to provide sustenance with a variety of delicious food outlets. Or stock up at Costco!

How to get to North Lakes

Getting to North Lakes and Mango Hill isn’t too difficult. If you’re in Brisbane, get onto Gympie Road and follow the road. Continue down the Gympie Arterial onto the Bruce Highway. Turn off the Highway onto Anzac Avenue before turning left onto Discovery Drive. It shouldn’t take more than 35 minutes. To get to Murrumba Downs and Griffin simply turn off the Bruce highway earlier at Dohles Rocks Road.
