Overnight Hikes near Brisbane

Home to the D’Aguilar Range, Bellthorpe National Park, Bribie Island and many other great natural wonders (at least they’re natural wonders to us), the Moreton Bay Region offers many endless opportunities for overnight hikes near Brisbane. Thanks to our friend at Gizmo’s Adventures, we’ve now got the information and images to share our favourite walk-in only bush camps in north Brisbane.

Northbrook Mountain

A small clearing near the summit of Northbrook Mountain, this little bush camp is a little-known but much-loved camping spot in the Moreton Bay Region. Remote and quiet, the bush camp boasts some great views of the England Creek Catchments and other great southerly sights. The area is covered with mountain heath, and between winter and spring beautiful wildflowers bloom in places. As a walk-in only bush camp near Brisbane, everything you need for an overnight hike will have to be carried and there are no facilities at the campsite.

Kobble Creek

If you’re an experienced bushwalker or camper looking for somewhere off the beaten track, Kobble Creek should be the next place on your bucket list to explore. Experienced navigators will love Kobble Creek and the quiet escape the three walk-in bush camping spots provide.

Middle Kobble Creek Bush Camp is the most popular as it is the only one with signposted tracks. Right next to Kobble Creek, the campground is a grassy area that offers the soothing trickling of the water to send you off for a good nights sleep for your overnight hike near Brisbane.

Also adjacent to the creek but a little further north, the North Kobble Creek Bush Camp is an open spot of eucalypt forest. Although there’s no facilities, there’s plenty of room for you to pitch your tent and maintain a firepit.

South Kobble Creek Bush Camp is another walk-in bush camp near Brisbane, located in the open forest beside Kobble Creek. The campsite is remote, the hike is unmarked and there are no facilities. A topographic map is required to find the bush camp site, so this one is only recommended for experienced campers and bushwalkers.

England Creek

England Creek Bush Camp is a picturesque spot to pitch a tent for an overnight hike in the Moreton Bay Region. A walk-in only bush campsite that is well signposted, the England Creek Bush Camp is not one that is hard to find. Like many of the walk-in bush campsites in D’Aguilar National Park, there are no facilities at the campsite, so packing the necessities is essential. Away from the city lights, this campsite is in a small clearing near England Creek can fit up to 9 people and has the trickling sound of England Creek to put you right to sleep.

Overnight hiking and walk-in bush camps near Brisbane are a-plenty in the Moreton Bay Region. Be sure to experience it for yourself.
