Janice Charlish is a wearer of many hats – she’s the President of the Moreton Bay Arts Council Inc, a wife, mother, grandmother, full-time volunteer working with all the arts and a passionate Moreton Bay Region local.
After a lengthy career in the corporate world, Janice has spent the past 10 years dedicated to volunteering across the creative and cultural industries.
A testimony to her passion, in 2013 Janice received the Australia Day, Cultural Award from Moreton Bay Regional Council where she acknowledged all the volunteer arts and cultural workers in the Moreton Bay Region as “unsung heroes”.

“From the moment I attended the Grand Opening, I was hooked. I love to make a day of visiting the beautiful museum with my husband or a girlfriend. The volunteers are always so friendly and happy to offer a tour through the exhibits.”
“Whether it be dinner or lunch, Ocean View Estates is the best fine-dining restaurant in the region. Peter (my husband) and I plan on celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary at the estate, including a midweek stay in the vineyard cottage. We’re looking forward to our favourite dining experience and of course their delicious estate wine.”
“These markets are a popular gathering of local creatives – whether it be crafters, makers, designers or performers, they are all brought together to showcase their talents three times a year. The iconic setting of the Old Fire Station is the perfect location to host this true grassroots market day.”
“There’s so much history in the heart of Redcliffe Seaside Village, and you don’t have to look too hard to find it. From Anzac Park, Redcliffe Jetty to Bee Gees Way, there’s so much to learn and take in. The Redcliffe Museum is just a short stroll up the road which houses some great stories of Redcliffe’s history.”
“I live on the other side of Lake Eden and my morning walk often includes coffee at The Boardwalk Restaurant (at North Lakes Hotel) with my husband Peter and our dog Max. It’s dog friendly so the whole family can enjoy our morning together.”
“This particular art gallery has always been my favorite. It offers so much entertainment with interesting visiting art exhibitions, local artist exhibitions and artist talks. The gallery also offers fantastic workshops which I’ve attended, as well as taking my granddaughters along during school holidays.”
