8 Best BBQ Picnic Spots with a View

It doesn’t get much better than blue skies, great views and a BBQ lunch, so we’ve made a list of all the best BBQ spots in the Moreton Bay Region for you to discover next weekend.

Scarborough Beach

The oasis of Scarborough Beach in Redcliffe is the perfect place for a weekend outing. There’s a fully fenced playground full of activities to tire out the kids, including a unique Cotton Tree Forest, perfect for hours of tree climbing fun. There is also plenty of grass to set out a picnic blanket, plus picnic tables, BBQs, and sand to sink your feet into. Best of all, you can look out across the Moreton Bay as you turn your snags and take in the distant Moreton Island.

Parents will love the fact that just a short stroll from the beach is Landsborough Ave, home to an excellent selection of caffeine providers.

Lake Samsonvale

Bullocky Rest is a great spot near Brisbane for a weekend outing, overlooking the picturesque Lake Samsonvale. A weekend BBQ dream spot, Bullocky Rest has plenty of parking, an abundance of picnic tables and shelters, and no shortage of BBQ’s. The lake provides a beautiful backdrop of Clear Mountain and the D’Aguilar National Park Range, perfect for that afternoon BBQ. You can also go fishing with a permit from SEQ, watch the native wildlife, play on the playground, or kick a ball around on the grass.

If you’re looking for ‘you beaut’ sausages before you head out to the lake, stop off at Warbys Butcher at Lawnton, they have some delicious snags and great meat cuts, perfect for the BBQ.

Bongaree

Bongaree Beach on Bribie Island is a stunning beachfront BBQ location. When the weather is good, the shallow water and white sand attract tourists and locals alike to soak up sea air and sun. The beachfront backs onto a nature strip where you can retreat if you need a little shade, and there are picnic shelters, tables and BBQ’s to cook up your weekend lunch.

Why not throw a prawn on the barbie with fresh produce from Savige’s Seafood, a short walking distance from Bongaree Beach and known by locals as THE PLACE for local seafood. Or head to Scoopys ice-cream parlour down the street for a cheeky afternoon treat.

Woody Point

Crockatt Park at Woody Point is another great beachy BBQ spot in the Moreton Bay Region. A well-known green oasis within the busy Woody Point, Crockatt Park has plenty to do after your BBQ, with a great playground the kids will really enjoy, along with a footpath for bikes and scooters.

Pull up a BBQ position in the late afternoon and fry up those steaks as the sunsets over the mountain ranges of D’Aguilar National Park in the distance, it really is a magical experience, never short of a sky of pinks and purples.

Jolly’s Lookout

This gem in D’Aguilar National Park is a BBQ spot near Brisbane with a killer view. If you like your BBQ lunch with a panoramic view of the Enoggera Forest Reserve, the Glasshouse Mountains, and Moreton Bay area, look no further. Jolly’s Lookout is a much-loved picnic and BBQ spot in the Moreton Bay Region. The picnic area is set against the beautiful backdrop of Mount Nebo, with lots of picnic tables, grassy areas, and barbecues spread out around the picnic area. There are also a few great walking tracks that begin at Jolly’s lookout and take you for a stroll, or a hike, through the towering eucalypt forest and rainforest, where you can bird watch and take in the natural beauty.

Mount Mee Lookout

Sunset or sunrise, the view from the Mount Mee Lookout is something everyone should experience. Just over an hour’s drive north-west from the heart of Brisbane, Mount Mee is one of the most beautiful sights in the Moreton Bay Region. Plan a day trip to this iconic bbq picnic spot in Dayboro to soak in the picturesque, homely countryside town living in the sheltering shadow of the D’Aguilar Mountain Range and vast open fields that roll from hill to hill.
