#1. Summer Sesh

Kickback and enjoy the chilled-out vibes of the Summer Sesh from Samford, Woodford, Redcliffe to Bribie Island and every local café, pub and club in between, your Summer is Sorted. Check out our What’s On Events page to discover what’s happening around the region this summer.

#2. Picture Perfect Picnic Spots

With a patchwork of waterways, the Moreton Bay Region has some must-visit picturesque picnic and BBQ spots. Whether you are day tripping from Brisbane of pulling the RV over for a few hours, there’s a location waiting to be discovered. From Broadwater in D’Aguilar National Park to Centenary Lakes in Caboolture, there’s plenty of picture-perfect picnic spots in the region. Don’t forget to have your camera ready when you visit these scenic hot spots.

#3. Shout it from the Mountain

Turn the wheels toward the mountains and take in the panoramic views at several great lookouts. You’ll also find a treasure trove of places to wine and dine, catch-up over coffee or sample fresh, local specialities and stock up on the picnic basket on your leisurely drive. Hit the Flying Nun Café in Samford for a unique café experience before continuing on to sip on some local wine at Ocean View Estates. Book a classy high tea at Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge and grab a juicy burger from Pitstop on Mount Mee. As you make your way home, drop by the picturesque Place 2b Café for a quick afternoon snack.

#4. We are Explorers

Escape the city hustle and bustle and buckle up to start your Moreton Bay Region adventure this Summer. With a network of 4WD, mountain bike and walking trails winding their way around the region’s hinterland national parks, the hardest part will be deciding which to tackle first.

Traverse the many tracks of D’Aguilar National Park in your 4WD from the Somerset Trail or Mount Mee Forest Drive to the quick and easy Western Escarpment Forest Drive. If you’d like something a little more challenging, head to Bellthorpe National Park where you can test your limits on gravel, uphill climb, through shallow water crossings and more!

Alternatively, grab the mountain bike or saddle the horse and head bush to discover your Summer adventure. Escape the bitumen by cycling your way through Bunyaville Conservation Park, Bellthorpe National Park, Samford Conservation Park or the Samford Valley Rail Trail.

#5. Good for the Soul

Unplug and unwind as you reconnect with Mother Nature and discover secluded swimming holes to cool off in and explore national parks by 4WD or foot. Traverse the Bunyaville State Forest Park before reaching the Bunya Crossing Swimming Hole, camp at Archer Campgrounds and kayak through Neurum Creek, or take a 4WD adventure to Rocky Hole in Mount Mee. Alternatively, if you’ve spent the day 4WDing in Bellthorpe National Park, you can stop by Stony Creek.

#6. Animal Kingdom

Take your tiny tot or curious explorer to the animal kingdom that is White Ridge Farms in Elimbah, near Brisbane. Set on 20 acres of lush green lawns, your little one can interact with goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, alpacas, camels and even miniature pigs! No matter your child’s predisposition, the sweet-natured woolly, furry, feathered and hoofed residents of White Ridge Farm will put kids at ease and win over children of all temperaments. The gentle souls are the perfect ambassadors for the Animal Kingdom – hand raised and accustomed to human interaction, they welcome affection in the form of pats, cuddles, chin scratches and belly rubs.

With some of the best kept secret places for fishing aficionados, there’s plenty of hinterland hot spots to drop a line in the water and enjoy a lazy day out in the sun, whiling the hours away.

Dance to the bohemian beats as Woodford Folk Festival transitions from day to night. With its usual mecca of over 2,000 local, national and international performers and presenters, this year’s program is sure to delight.

Everyone loves the buzz of market shopping, the hustle and bustle, the smell of food, the sun on your face and the thrill of unique and bargain find. From produce to artisan finds, Moreton Bay Region has a market waiting for you to discover. Hinterland choices include:

  • Samford Valley Market, every second Saturday on the month from 7 am at St Paul’s Anglican Church, 12 Mt Samson Road, Samford Valley.
  • Old Petrie Town Country Markets, Sundays from 7 am, Dayboro Road, Kurwongbah.
  • Strathpine State School P&C Flea Market, Saturdays from 6 am at Pine Rivers Showgrounds, Gympie Road, Lawnton.
  • Caboolture Markets, every Sunday from 6 am – 12 pm at 140 Beerburrum Road, Caboolture.
