You’ll be spoilt for choice with an abundance of family-friendly things to do in Moreton Bay Region.

There’s plenty of attractions, museums and other activities to enjoy a great family day trip, or holiday within the region (or just to let your inner-child run free) without breaking the bank.

On a Budget

With plenty of free and low cost attractions and activities, as well as affordable accommodation and child-friendly restaurants and cafes, Moreton Bay Region is the perfect family destination to stick to your budget.

Make the most of the region’s national parks, beaches, waterholes, creeks and pools, as well as parks, playgrounds, reserves – all of which are free to visit and use (although camping permit costs do apply). To make your dollar stretch even further, pack a picnic or utilise the many free public barbeques throughout the region.

Must do ‘on a budget’ experiences include splashing about at Settlement Cove Lagoon in Redcliffe, pelican feeding at Pelican Park and picking delicious strawberries during winter.

Educational, Cultural & Historical Things to do in Moreton Bay Region

The Moreton Bay Region boasts a number of educational attractions which make learning fun for the young ones.

Some kids love museums, others not so much. Luckily our bay and hinterland paradise is teeming with intriguing museums and cultural gems featuring activities for kids and (at select times of the year) child-orientated exhibits.

Be sure to check out the Abbey Medieval Museum, Caboolture War Plane Museum, Caboolture Historical Museum, Bribie Island Seaside Museum and Old Petrie Town, amongst others.

For train-hobbyist kids (or big kids), or railway history buffs, a trip to our region is not complete without a visit the Woodford Railway or the Melsa Train Park on Bribie Island.

If your children love nature, they can learn all about the region’s fauna and flora at the Osprey House or Kumbartcho Sanctuary and meet some of our beautiful native animals.
