Moreton Bay Bugs and Seafood

Moreton Bay is the home of fresh seafood and the Moreton Bay Bugs.

Found on menus all over the world, the internationally famous Moreton Bay Bugs are caught right here in Moreton Bay. Head to Bribie Island or Scarborough to feast on the freshest seafood straight off the trawlers or available from outlets throughout the region.

Try a recipe for Beef and Bugs, a sumptuous modern Australian dish with an Asian twist - What more could you want? This fresh, flavoursome, surf n’ turf sensation has been generously provided by Tempest Seafood Restaurant & Teppanyaki Grill.

Local Produce

The Moreton Bay Region is synonymous with fresh produce and has attracted some of the country’s finest chefs who transform the freshest locally sourced produce into mouth-watering culinary delights.

Home to a wide range of fantastic places to wine and dine, you will be spoilt for choice with your surroundings from beautiful restaurants in rainforest settings, quaint cafes, historic country pubs, value for money dining experiences and casual beachfront dining.

Sample fresh Moreton Bay specialities and stock up the picnic basket on your leisurely drive through the region as you pass roadside stalls selling freshly harvested produce from nearby farms and at weekly farmers’ markets.

Boasting some of the best coffee shops in the country as well as a selection of boutique craft breweries and wineries, pull up a chair and enjoy the local specialities, participate in a guided tour or take a taste of Moreton Bay home with you.

Strawberries

The Moreton Bay Region has an intimate relationship with the strawberry industry with more than 80% of Queensland’s strawberries grown right here in our backyard. There are a number of strawberry farms located in region’s north where you can pick your very own fresh and juicy strawberry during the season (June – October). It’s a fun and delicious activity the whole family will love.

Foodie events
